Non-Scientific Tally
From CWA & Cypress (Boys and Girls Aid) members who have participated in the tally who have received their first and/or second vaccine. So far all those whoo have reported are generally a member of both organizatioons, so we are reporting the total for first and second vaccines regardless of organization. Many are members of both. Use the following form to let us know.
My appointment is this week. I’ve heard Costco has had to reschedule others, but hoping not. Will let everyone know.
The lines at PDX were long but went fast. Got my appointment by calling OHSU early last Thursday morning.
I hope this helps anyone. With my level of frustration about trying to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination getting higher with each attempt, I decided to put order to chaos just for my own peace of mind.
See attached document about how to schedule an appointment through the various options (central locations, drug stores, etc.)… if this would help, please feel free to send it on the members of the CWA.
Also, if anyone has other information, I’d be happy to update this and share again. (For example, I am neither a veteran nor a member of Kaiser so do not have access to any information other than the basics in the doc.)
Here you go: See in this thread. Updated again on 3/1/21
Also heard about a site for LAST-MINUTE appointments … will update the “tips” document.
Last-Minute Appointments
If people do not show up or cancel an appointment, or if a site has enough supply for additional vaccinations, you can get notices via text messages on your cell phone. Go here to register:

Just had my first shot (Moderna). at Costco in WIlsonville. It was a breeze. Both my husband and I had appointments back to back. In and out in 1/2 hour total and filled our grocery cart on the way out. They made our appointments for 3 weeks out also. Thank you to Lynda Huber Marshall for the lead on Costco. Lucked out scheduling our appointments before they filled up.
We were very very lucky to be given our first shot on Jan. 20. What a day that was! We got it through our son’s support services because he is disabled. We. his parents, got the shots because we are his care givers. The second shot was scheduled for Feb. 15th but was postponed twice because the clinic did not have power. We finally got the second shots on Feb. 19th.
Maderna: a bit sore in the arm the first shot and quite sore the second but that was all.
We are very grateful.
I had my first shot last Thursday – Feb 25th, at Woodburn High School sponsored/administered by Woodburn Ambulance. So far I do not have a date for the 2nd vaccine.
I was fortunate to hear that Costco scheduling had just opened up. I scheduled my husband and myself then started letting other people know. I am so glad that I was able to get the word out and sign several clients, neighbors, and friends up for their shots. My husband went the first day they opened. I had to wait due to my age and then was re-scheduled twice due to the storm back east, but got my shot yesterday. I then worked in the yard for 3 hours and drank water. My arm was just a little sore, but I kept it moving. Slept on it just fine. All is well.
Heard today that Costco is also taking appointments specifically for J&J vaccine. I tried the appointment portal, and some locations are taking appointments again. This is the link: https://www.costco.com/covid-vaccine.html . Keep going back and trying new locations if you get a message that says try another clinic. You have to go to the original link again and try another city. I noticed Tigard is open for appointments but not Wilsonville, for example. Happy hunting! Nice thing about Costco. They give you your second appointment, if the vaccine requires it, right when you get your first. 3 weeks out.
Am sending an updated PDF file with the latest info about how to schedule a vaccination (simplified).
I edited info and added a date at the bottom of the page so people know how current it is.
Still do not have details about getting a vaccination either at Kaiser or as a Veteran.
Happy to update if anyone has additional information.

Thank you Nancy for all your efforts to help our members!
So happy I received my second Moderna vaccine last week. Side effects just like with the first shot. About a week of fatigue, nausea, achy everything and generally flu-like symptoms. But the good news is it isn’t the flu, just my immune system adjusting. Forced me to rest more and that’s not a bad thing. Joe and I are so very happy we can now safely visit with our family and friends in our home or theirs again, once they clear their waiting time after their last shot. Hooray!!!
I received my second Moderna shot last week without any side effects. So glad to have this protection. I can now see my family and hug them all! I hope I can still remember how to entertain, it has been along time.
