The February CWA meeting will be a Valentine Tea. It will be held at the regular time of 11:30 am in the Dining Room of the Clubhouse. We will have a menue of tea sandwiches, scones and other teatime goodies catered by It’s Party Time. We will have wine service available too. Our program that day will be a historical enactment by Mary and Mike Hutchins titled, Mrs. Pittock and her Chauffeur. Georgiana Pittock and her husband Henry were very important figures in early 20th Century Portland. They built the beautiful Pittock Mansion which today is open as museum. The program will focus on the time of the early days of the mansion which was built around 1915. Mrs. Pittock considered the founder of the Portland Rose Festival and so her memory and works are dear to northwest gardeners. However, her interest and influence extended beyond roses and we will hear more about her work in Women’s Suffrage and other issues of her time.
