There is something about October that has always seemed special. Although it does herald wetter and darker times here in the Pacific Northwest, I am always ready to say good-bye to t-shirts and sunscreen in the fall. Here it is mid-September and I already see bits of colorful fall foliage and fields of pumpkins. The trend to everything being “pumpkin spice” has seemed to have waned –thank heavens!  There can be too much of a good thing after all.

Speaking of scents, that happens to be the subject of the program planned for the CWA’s October 12 luncheon. Women Make “Scents” will be presented by Margeaux Lazar from the Perfume House in Portland. She will speak about the history of fragrance, the women inspired by fragrance and their influence in the perfume industry. The audience will be able to smell samples of the different scents that mark a specific time in history.  Not only does fragrance smell pretty, but creating fragrance is both art and science. The luncheon will be catered by It’s Party Time and the cost is $32/members and $37/non-members.  The menu includes pork tenderloin, potatoes, vegetables, rolls and a light dessert.  Coffee will be served.

We were so pleased to have a good number of new members join after our August Happy Hour.  Several attended the September luncheon and we hope to see more of you, plus our returning members this coming month.  If you are hesitant to come alone, CWA can arrange for one of our members to greet you at the sign-in table and then you can sit with her.  You can communicate with CWA through an email to cwaladies@gmail.com
