It is time to kick off the CWA club year with our first luncheon on Monday, September 14 at 11:30 in the Dining Room of the Event Center.  Some things haven’t changed.  We plan to hold our luncheon events on the second Monday of each month through May here in the Charbonneau Dining Room.  A few things have changed — most notably that we are not going to be serving wine at our regular luncheons.  Costs for everything have gone up, and the cost and complications of being in strict compliance with Oregon liquor laws made this seem like the best course of action.  That way we can employ a variety of caterers and use the luncheon payments for the food.   We depend on our membership dues for the cost of operating CWA and putting on luncheons with programs..

We will kick off our year with a special guest speaker, Major General  Constance L. Jenkins USAF.  Maj. Gen. Jenkins is an Oregon native with a long and varied career in the Air Force.  It will be good to hear about the opportunities such as career afforded her and the challenges it presented.  As a women’s organization we support women in all walks of life as we hope for continued success in all fields  for our granddaughters and great granddaughters.

Mitche from G Gourmet will be catering with an Italian Pasta Bar including a choice of pasta, caesar salad, meatballs, garlic bread sticks and tiramisu for dessert.  The cost is the same as last year — $32 for members and $37 for guests. The sign up deadline is Tuesday, September 8 at noon.  The book is now open in the Activity Center closet.  Checks, payable to CWA, should be placed in the lockbox on the closet wall just inside the doorway.  Membership checks ($35) should also be placed there.
